Dr Eddy Dona is a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon who has dedicated his career to Plastic Surgery since 2007. He is a member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS).

While still at school, Eddy considered two career options: art and medicine. His love of creativity was reflected in his HSC subject choice of 3-unit art, where his major works topped the state and were part of the annual Art Express Exhibition.

However, a career in medicine beckoned, and Dr Dona completed his medical degree at the University of Sydney before undertaking 11 years of intensive training to pursue his surgical career. Of all the specialities available, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery was closest to his heart.

Plastic Surgery is far more than cosmetic; however, a large part of the training and practice is dedicated to reconstructive work. For the first 15 years of his specialist career as a Plastic Surgeon, Dr Dona dedicated part of his time working on some of Sydney’s busiest public hospitals, including emergency on-call services. During this time, his work was often focused on Reconstructive Plastic Surgery, such as hand and skin cancer surgery, including trauma and reconstructive microsurgery.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCEIn Plastic Surgery

Of course, plastic surgery is far more than cosmetic surgery, with a large part of the training and practice dedicated to reconstructive work. Indeed, despite the demands on his time, for the first 15 years of his specialist career as a plastic surgeon Dr Eddy Dona dedicated part of his time working in some of Sydney’s busiest public hospitals, including providing emergency on-call services.

It was here that Dr Dona often looked after all the non-cosmetic plastic surgery issues, such as hand and skin cancer surgery, including trauma and reconstructive microsurgery.

‘He believes that a comprehensive understanding of human aesthetics and a lifetime commitment to learning are vital in an ever-changing and demanding speciality.’

Dr Dona remains abreast of the latest surgical techniques, regularly attending national and international Plastic Surgery conferences.

Over the years, as a Specialist Plastic Surgeon, Dr Dona has contributed to the training of countless doctors and future Cosmetic Plastic Surgeons.

Dr Dona performs a variety of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery procedures and has a special interest in Body Contouring surgery for individuals who have experienced significant weight loss.
