Chronic Skin Conditions
Acne, Rosacea and Perioral Dermatitis, are common skin conditions that can impact men and women of all ages.
What are the causes of these skin conditions?
Acne: This skin condition is caused by the Cutibacterium Acnes bacteria which resides in the skin’s Sebaceous glands. As the Sebaceous glands secretes sebum (oil) to lubricate the skin and hair, the increased bacteria in the skin, can lead to the development of a pimple.
Rosacea: This skin condition primarily occurs on the face and is the result of increased blood flow to the affected area. The characteristics of Rosacea are skin redness, dilated blood vessels and may also include red pimple-like bumps on the cheeks and other areas of the face. Overtime, the redness is likely to increase and become more persistent with blood vessels becoming larger and more visible.
Perioral Dermatitis: This skin condition is an inflammatory rash that is usually located around the mouth. This rash exhibits dry skin and can be itchy and painful, causing increased localized skin sensitivity and a burning sensation. It is also common to find red puss-filled lumps in the affected areas.
Treatment
At Bella Plastic Surgery Clinic, we have designed treatment approaches that target these skin conditions individually using technologically-advanced laser and light-based therapy.
Our advanced laser technology is the only laser device designed to specifically target the Cutibacterium acnes (C. acnes) bacteria and shrink the Sebaceous glands without affecting surrounding skin tissue.
Our laser focuses on destroying such bacteria within each session which will result in the pimple scabbing over and clearing within days post treatment. This same laser device is employed to treat facial capillaries, redness and other skin surface bacteria found in Rosacea and Perioral Dermatitis.
Skin needling is often used as an adjunct treatment therapy, performed immediately after your laser treatment which has the effect of stimulating skin cell regeneration.
Light Emitting Diode Therapy (LED) is also employed to treat the inflammation component of these skin conditions. LED works by jump-starting the new cells that have been created using laser and skin needling with pulses of light energy, which stimulates the production of proteins and lipids, both of which are essential for building and repairing the skin.
How long does the treatment take?
The treatment process time is determined by your individualized treatment plan which will be discussed and developed during your initial consultation.
